Plain English
… is still my core business. For nearly 20 years I worked at Argentina’s leading law firm, Marval O’Farrell Mairal, training their lawyers to write more clearly in English. In the past 4 years I have been delivering an annual course in Plain English Skills for Lawyers as part of the Master’s in Law for the Facultad de Derecho of the Universidad Austral in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This course is one of a kind at any university and is part of the Department of Language and Law at the Austral University.
During the virtual classes on effective emails for GlobalLogic EU and Ukraine Legal teams Joanna shared some very practical hints that have improved our communication skills. We all appreciate her materials.

Presentation Skills and Storytelling
Back in 2010, I started working with Marcela Gola of Gola & Asociados when English training was required. We continue to work closely together and I also work independently as a freelance trainer in presentation skills in English with an emphasis on Storytelling.
Giving a presentation is challenging, but giving it in a language that is not your first one, can be even worse. My training provides the tools and practice to give a presentation in English confidently and fluently. I also work on common areas of difficulties such as transition points and questions.
Storytelling techniques give presentations a narrative arc that will raise the level of any presentation, making it memorable and getting buy-in from the audience. My clear and didactic techniques make Storytelling intuitive and easy, even in a second language.
Joanna’s coaching was incredibly helpful. I won confidence in my public speaking skills in English as she supported me with her technical and emotional knowledge. She has a broad experience and we practiced with modern techniques and very interesting material.

Executive Presence
Over time it became clear to me that it is not enough to speak clearly, to be successful in the business world today a professional needs to communicate in the language of their industry and use business terms correctly. In my training I incorporate roleplaying techniques and real-life situations, enabling professionals to become more adept at using the business language of today and structuring their thoughts more clearly.
Coaching for Women
One of the parts of my job that I most enjoy is helping women speak up in English confidently. I have worked with many women executives, from recent graduates to C-suite. They often struggle with issues of confidence when speaking in English and imposter syndrome. To be able to empower these women to find their voices is very rewarding as a coach, whether they are CEOs or aiming for a promotion at work.
